Zabbix
Hatomi has many years of experience in building solutions for monitoring and managing ICT infrastructure, both based on commercial software (including large leading software providers) as well as open-source systems and proprietary software.
As a certified Zabbix partner, we have been implementing integrated monitoring and reporting systems based on the manufacturer’s platform and proprietary solutions for several years.
As part of the projects, we implemented, among others: systems based on the Zabbix solution operating in a distributed mode, ensuring monitoring of up to 10,000 devices in terms of their availability, load, utilization of interfaces, utilization of QoS queues and reading the results of end-to-end measurements (such as IPSLA) in QoS traffic classes.
These solutions use an additional module that allows you to generate dedicated reports on monitored parameters, SLA reports on device availability, traffic quality parameters in QoS classes and financial reports. The systems also have a dedicated management module.
We expand our solutions with a dedicated management module and additional non-standard modules: import of hosts and import of service windows important from the point of view of SLA reports.
Our integrations of the monitoring system based on Zabbix with inventory systems (usually based on GLPI solutions and a dedicated FusionInventory agent) are also interesting and functional, allowing for automatic detection of devices via the SNMP protocol. Inventory data of detected devices is available from the GUI of the GLPI application. Additionally, through the dedicated GLPI<->Zabbix connector, measurements in the Zabbix system are automatically created for these devices.
The “Zabbix” solutions we implement can additionally provide backup mechanisms for the configuration of devices detected by the inventory system. The solution is based on the open-source oxidized module, which is provisioned automatically by GLPI system with a list of devices for which the configuration is to be backed up. The oxidized module is responsible for the mechanisms of downloading configurations from devices of various vendors and saving them to an external repository, e.g. the GitLab system, which provides versioning mechanisms.
In the projects we implement, standalone architecture or high availability architecture (HA) is possible, implemented at every level of the system’s logical architecture. We implement them based on our own application solutions or system solutions, e.g. LinuxHA with DRDB.
Scaling is based on Zabbix’s own solutions – distributed monitoring or on the basis of the Docker warm solution with CI/CD.
GLPI – complete ITSM system
GLPI is the most complete open-source service management software. It can be described as “multi-tool ITSM”. Provides a very wide range of ready-to-use functionalities in the field of:
Inventory with hardware, software, data centers and freely defined resources, e.g. car fleet or specialized industrial tools. Thanks to the use of GLPI agents, it enables automatic detection and inventory of devices, as well as provisioning of applications and packages
HelpDesk – handling requests, problems, changes. GLPI enables the construction of a “tailor-made” service desk system. It can be closely related to the inventory, when reports and incidents are processed in the context of the resources we manage. For example, the procurement of new equipment, the operation of printers or the handling of server failures
Financial Management – GLPI allows you to manage software licenses, create and implement budgets. Control of expenses, contracts and suppliers, creation of new inventory objects, management of contacts and licenses database. In the area of financial management, we will find these and many other functionalities
Project Management – Project management: assigning tasks, creating co-workers, defining deadlines. Supporting the organization of team work thanks to reporting and Kanban boards.
Administration and configuration – an extensive system management area is available in the context of users, their groups, and permissions; modeling entities and organizations. Adapting the GLPI interface to the needs of each company and organization (logo, colors) is very simple, and thanks to the wide range of available plug-ins, you can easily expand its functionalities
We get these functionalities “out of the box”. They are only the core of the system and the starting point for its advanced configuration, so as to fully adapt it to our needs. Each of these areas provides great configuration flexibility. Inventory resources, if necessary, can be imported from external repositories or detected automatically in selected network segments.
We can define our own inventory objects or add new attributes to the existing ones. Within one instance of the system, we are able to model any number of entities, so as to reflect the structure of our company in the most optimal way or define separate areas dedicated to our clients in the system.
The ability to create your own forms, implement business rules and notifications automates the process of handling requests and incidents. If we need to use an extensive knowledge base, add support for requests from external communication platforms or a mobile application, add a chat-bot function, all this is available practically out of the box and only requires configuration.
Finally, the ability to quickly install available plug-ins and implement your own is another, but not the last, advantage of the GLPI system.
